A path made of small things
From the deck, Nova saw five pale shells resting over the seagrass. They were too evenly spaced to be random and too delicate to disturb. Each shell pointed toward Fernwater Arch, where the water narrowed to a green doorway.
The tempting shortcut
A direct line through the grass would have been fast. Nova knew it would also flatten a field of young blades. She pushed the boat around the outer rocks, then slipped into the water only where the sand was already clear.
The secret opens
Under the arch, a shy fish nudged a loose shell from the wall. The shell rolled along the blue hand line, making a soft tapping sound. Nova understood the trail: the fish had been leading visitors away from the fragile meadow.
Long way, good water
Back at the club, Nova drew a wider blue line around Fernwater Arch. It took longer to travel. That was exactly why it was worth keeping.
Nova added the final note to the club board, circled it with a cobalt tide mark and left room for the next question.
Reef Run for the Orange Tail
An orange-tailed reef fish was leaping beside the stacks at dawn. Nova learned that the chase was really a rescue route.
